Zhong Chen / Artist biography
Born in China, Zhong Chen arrived in Australia in 1989 at the age of 19. Chen's work is influenced by Chinese folk art, Ming and Ching Dynasty paintings and woodblock prints. His early works showed the artist coming to terms with his dual identity as a Chinese-born Australian artist. Since then, Chen has continued to explore issues like transcultural identity, nationalism and place. He completed a Masters of Fine Arts at the Chelsea School of Art, London in 1998.
