Theatre of Image is a multi-award-winning theatre company for children aged 5 – 12 and families. Theatre of Image presents seasons of high quality main-stage productions and has toured regionally, nationally and internationally.

Kim Carpenter has created productions for major Australian theatre, dance and opera companies. His art works and designs are represented in international collections. Previously co-artistic director at Belvoir St Theatre and Head of Design at NIDA, he now makes medium-to-large scale distinctive visual theatre for children and families.

Theatre of Image was founded in 1988 by Kim Carpenter. The company tells Australian and universal stories to our young people as much through visual and musical images as through words. The company has collaborated with major performing arts companies in Australia, Canada and Japan. Celebrated productions include The Happy Prince, the children’s opera; Grandma’s Shoes (with Opera Australia); Lulie the Iceberg (with Kageboushi Theatre Shadow Puppet Company); and Stella & The Moon Man (with the Australian Youth Orchestra).
