Stephen Benwell’s hand built ceramic bases provide an undulating surface, slick but uneven, on which to scrawl his vital marks, images and colours. His work often contains a story, or unusual sequence of events. Narrative is combined with a distinctive aesthetic to create unique and engaging art. Benwell’s work is currently on display in the touring exhibition, A Secret History of Blue and White: Contemporary Australian Ceramics.
