Simeon Nelson works between sculpture, installation, digital artforms and public projects. His work looks at how humans interface with nature in the arts and sciences.
Simeon Nelson / Artist biography
Simeon Nelson is currently a Reader in Sculpture, University of Hertfordshire, UK. Much of his current work depicts natural structures and systems, as represented by science and technology. Nelson’s work alternates between smaller intimate objects, large installations, private studio works and public art practice. Interests include relationships between nature and technology, science and religion, ornament and abstraction. He is currently working on a wide range of gallery and public projects internationally.

Simeon Nelson’s practice was established in Australia in the 1990s. He is Reader in Sculpture at the University of Hertfordshire, UK. His work is held by a number of high-profile public and private collections. He was a finalist in the National Gallery of Australia’s National Sculpture Prize 2005 and in the 2003 Jerwood Sculpture Prize. In 1997 he was the Australian representative to the IX Triennial India, New Delhi. He recieved a Leverhulme Grant in 2007 and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Fellowship in 2000.
