Shaun Tan is an award-winning Australian illustrator, author and graphic novelist.

Shaun Tan is the illustrator and author of award-winning illustrated books such as The Lost Thing, The Red Tree and The Arrival. Shaun’s picture books have reached a broad readership in Australia and internationally and have been translated into several languages. They are for an older age bracket, but in essence provide for people of any age, on any level. Shaun currently works full time as a freelance artist and author, concentrating mostly on writing and illustrating picture books.

In 1992 Shaun won the International Illustrators of the Future Contest, the first Australian to achieve this award, and in 2007 he was named Best Artist at the World Fantasy Awards in New York. His collaboration with John Marsden on The Rabbits won the 1999 Children's Book Council of Australia Picture Book of the Year Award. In 2007, his wordless graphic novel The Arrival also won this award, as well as both West Australian Premier’s and New South Wales Premier's Book of the Year Awards.
