Established in 1995, the company comprises a core group of artists who collaborate under the artistic direction of David Pledger to produce original theatrical works, public space projects, play productions, video-installation, television and programs involving workshops, forums, research and development.

Renowned for its muscular, intelligent and provocative explorations into physical and multimedia performance, the multi-award winning company has presented performances, workshop programs and installation projects nationally and internationally. Specialising in international collaborations, most recently in Korea and Japan, NYID has also toured a number of works overseas notably to the Vienna Festwochen, the Seoul Performing Arts Festival and Denmark’s Arhus Festival and to Australia’s major festivals.
