MWT was formed in 1987 in an international climate of aggression towards trade unions. The company formed to address questions such as 'What does it mean to be a trade unionist at this particular time and under these attacks?' MWT has produced powerful, professional theatre that responds to situations that have yet to find a voice in Australian culture. The company has produced 30 new Australian plays since formation, performing work with artists and communities from a range of backgrounds and cultures, and collaborating with other theatre companies.
