Multiple award-winning Kate Grenville is one of Australia's best-known writers, and has published seven prize-winning books of fiction and four popular how-to-write books.

Grenville has worked as a film editor, journalist, and teacher, and spent seven years in Europe and the USA working and studying. She currently lives in Sydney. Grenville has held fellowships from the International Association of University Women, and the Australia Council. Grenville’s novels have been published in many languages and two feature films have been made of her work.

Grenville's first novel, Lilian's Story won the Vogel/Australian Award. Dreamhouse was shortlisted for four Australian awards. Dark Places was longlisted for the Booker Prize, shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award, and won the Vance Palmer Prize for Fiction. The Idea of Perfection won the Orange Prize for Fiction. The Secret River won the Commonwealth Prize for Literature, the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction, was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award and Man Booker Prize and longlisted for the IMPAC Dublin prize.
