Kate Burke has been singing and performing for years, and has recorded with artists including Judy Small and David Ross McDonald (The Waifs),as well as appearing solo at the Sydney Opera House for a season of Bush Babies’ Proms. Ruth Hazleton has worked as singer, guitarist and clawhammer banjo player with bands including Closet Klezmer, the Horse’s Leotard and Dev’lish Mary.

Kate & Ruth have received awards including the ScreenSound Australia Award for Best Folk Album 2003. They were voted by Folk Alliance Australia members as one of the top three Best Live Acts in 2006 and named as one of the ten best-selling artists for 2002 through Japan’s major folk music distributor, Tambourine Records. Kate & Ruth tour the UK regularly, have recorded with Bruce Molsky (USA), Andy Irvine (IRE), and Nancy Kerr & James Fagan (UK), and performed with the likes of James Keelaghan (CAN) and Kristina Olsen (USA).
