Helen Herbertson is the 2007 recipient of the Kenneth Myer Medallion for outstanding and distinguished contribution to the Performing Arts. She has worked as a freelance choreographer and was artistic director of Danceworks from 1989-1997. Helen currently combines choreography, directing and a creative collaboration with roles in artistic management, education and mentorship.

Herbertson's work has been presented in traditional theatrical settings, intimate venues, large-scale outdoor sites, in-theatre and opera performances, educational projects, festivals and touring programs. Her approach fuses an expressive, physical choreographic language with a detailed exploration of the performance site, emphasizing the integration of lighting and design while working collaboratively with performers and creative teams. Herbertson’s work is multi-award winning, with awards for Best Dance Production, Choreography, Direction and Outstanding Creative Collaboration.
