Christopher Cyrill is a writer and poet, born in Melbourne to Indian parents. His first novel, The Ganges and Its Tributaries, was published in 1993.

Christopher Cyrill lectured in Creative Writing at Newcastle University in NSW, Australia, and has taught at Macquarie University, Wollongong University and the University of New South Wales. Cyrill is the Fiction Editor of Australian literary publication Heat magazine and the Fiction Consultant of Giramondo Publishing, Australia.

Christopher Cyrill's first novel, The Ganges and its Tributaries, was published to critical acclaim in 1993, and has since been dramatised for ABC radio. Cyrill’s second novel, Hymns for the Drowning, was released by Allen & Unwin in 1998. Cyrill won the Australian travelling scholarship, the Marten Bequest, and has been shortlisted for both the Victorian and New South Wales Premiers' Literary Awards. He has published over 100 stories and poems and regularly reviews for The Sydney Morning Herald. Cyrill is currently working on his third novel, Crown & Anchor.
