Funding

Australia Council for the Arts supports Australian artists and arts organisations through funding programs across all artforms. Visit the Australia Council website for the complete range of available grants www.australiacouncil.gov.au/grants.

Below is a list of Australia Council funding programs available to Australian artists and companies to support their international market development activities:

MUSIC
Live on Stage – Provides travel support for professional musicians and their manager/representative selected to showcase original Australian music at key international music trade fairs and international festivals.

International Pathways - Supports international touring by Australian musicians performing predominantly original Australian music.

LITERATURE
Booked – International travel support for Australian publishers and literary agents to promote Australian literary works and authors overseas and develop international demand for Australian literary works and authors.

PERFORMING ARTS
Going Global – Responds to international one-off performances and touring opportunities resulting from Australia Council international market development initiatives.

International Performing Arts Markets - Travel Fund - Available for Australian independent producers, tour managers and/or company and artist representatives to apply for travel support to attend International Performing Arts Markets.

Research Hub

The Australia Council's Research Hub is a one-stop shop for information about Australia’s arts and culture, including commissioned research on the arts sector, international market reports, audience analysis, marketing information, statistical snapshots, case studies and links to external sources. Sounds Australia

The Sounds Australia brand has been developed by the Australia Council for the Arts, in association with Austrade, State and Territory arts agencies and key music industry organisations and representatives to create a unified look and feel when representing Australia at international music fairs and markets. The Australia Council invites and encourages the Australian music industry to use the Sounds Australia brand when representing and promoting Australian music internationally.

Australian Plays

www.australianplays.org is a new e-commerce portal dedicated to the sale and promotion of Australian playscripts. It features more than 1,500 Australian playscripts, representing the work of over 500 playwrights. Alongside such familiar names as David Williamson, Joanna Murray-Smith, Andrew Bovell, Stephen Sewell and Jack Hibberd are many rising stars including Tom Holloway, Ben Ellis, Ross Mueller and Melissa Cantwell.

The OzArts Directory provides a listing of key international contacts across artforms. The Directory is searchable by name, type, region and artform, and contacts can be sorted, printed or exported as a file for our personal use.


Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)

Through its international network of embassies, consulates and high commissions, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is able to provide Australians travelling internationally with valuable on the ground information and assistance. If you are an Australian artist/company planning to tour internationally, be sure to contact the DFAT post of that country in advance.

DFAT has also established a number of bilateral bodies to support Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio objectives in key bilateral relationships. For information on funding, grants, and scholarships, visit www.dfat.gov.au/councils


The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade)

Similarly, the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) may be able to assist with on the ground support and contacts, or with financial assistance through their Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) program.
